delete undelete folders

I have reading about making space by deleting the $NTundelete folders.
Even after making them unhidden and not read-only, it still won't let
me delete some of them. It seem as though some of these files are
protected. Like user.dll, or msdsx.osx. I know the real versions of
these files, which usually are in the system32 folder are in active
use, and the OS seems to be protecting these copies. So, how do I get
rid of them?

What is the exact error message you are seeing when you try to delete them?

It says:

"Cannot copy user32: Access is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is
not currently in use."

None of the conditions are true. I am logged in as administrator. Do
you have any suggestions?

Try it in Safe mode - might be a permissions problem too.

Thank you for the idea. It was a permission problem. Very interesting.
Since I had done the updates while logged in as myself, an
administrator but not 'the' administrator, the adminstrator did not
have permission to access the files, only I did as the owner. Once I
logged out as administrator and logged in as me, I would move the files
with no problem. Very interesting. Of course, I had to make the
security tabs visible to learn this, since the XP pro default is to
have them invisible.
