Delete root Web while maintaining subweb

In FP03 is it possible to delete a root Web and keep the subwebs? It appears
that my root Web has become corrupt. Whenever I work on a page on the
sersver-based Web and save it, it strips away the theme and the top shared
border. Compare http://caot.lacitycollege.edu/112/Week_2.htm (a correctly
functioning page) to http://caot.lacitycollege.edu/112/Week_3.htm (a page
where the theme has been removed and the top shared border). This behavior
just started int the last week. I created a new root Web with a different
name and it works fine. I have about 30 subwebs now and don't want to have to
publish them all over to the new root web. Thanks in advance for all
suggestions.

No, I wouldn't think so since the subweb is part of the root web (it is a
folder within the root web).

Unless you import the the subweb folder to a new root web. After all a
subweb is just a folder within the root web, converted to a web folder but
it still depends on the root web for its existence.

Have you tried unapplying/reapplying the shared borders and themes (to the
root web).

Are you opening the web first, then the pages?

Delete all files and folders in your old root web Except
- the subweb folders
- the images folder (delete only content in there)
- the _private folder (delete only content in there)
Run a Tool Recalculate Hyperlinks
Publish your new root web to the old root web
- do not include subwebs in the publish options!
