Delete rights & Novell

Do I really have to give all users delete rights to the directory of my
shared database located on a Novell Netware server? I know that the lock
file has to be created and deleted by the first and last users to use the
database and I can't have the same person be assigned to this task - it has
to be available to all users at anytime. So other than programming
protections into the application, is there a way that I don't have to give
all users delete rights to the directory?

Sandra,

Given the above requirement, you must give delete rights to all users.
So other than programming protections into the application,

Assuming you are referring to the Access User Level security (or your own
homegrown security scheme), none of these affect the requirement that all
users have full access to the folder where your database resides. You can
activate Access Use Level security but still must give all users full access
to the folder.
