I have recently upgraded successfully from Windows 98 to
XP Pro. I would now like to delete my old 98 stuff from
my hard drive to free up space. How do I go about this?
Thanks
Pete

When you performed the upgrade did you place the new XP files in the
c:\windows dir? If so then you must not delete this dir because XP will not
work.

Have you checked the add or remove menu list to see if you have an entry
which is for removing old Windows installation? If so just follow the
prompts on removal.

Can you remember during the upgrade the question if you would like to save
your previous OS files? Again do you know what you picked?

Thanks for your help. When I performed the upgrade, I
just let XP go wherever it suggested. Is there any
resource to which I can refer to find out where their
defaults placed it? There's no reference to 98 in the
Add/Remove list. I'm pretty sure tthat I saved the
previous operating system files, and I would have saved
them to whatever default location XP suggested. Whaddya
think
Thanks again
Pete
