DELETING OLD WINDOW 98 FILES

G

Guest

I just got an old computer with a 5gig hard drive that had Windows 98
installed. I bought and installed the Windows XP upgrade and everything
works fine. Going through my files (C drive ) I noticed a folder that says
Win98. Can this folder be deleted ? Contains a lot of cabinet files among
other things. About 700 files and 130Mb total.
Thanks for any help

This is the Windows 98 installation folder. It is no longer required.
A simple but highly effective method to deal with such issues is to
rename the folder to something else, then wait a few weeks. If all
is well then you can obviously delete the folder.

With an upgrade of XP installed, what happens if you need to do a clean
install of XP?
If you save the Win98 folder to a CD, would the CD have the files needed to
show prove of a previous operating system?

You pop in the original Win98 CD.

Don't know, never tried this one.

Good questions!
