delete/lrecycle folder?

I'm running xp pro - and I have yet to find the recycle folder - where is
that thing? Used to be on the desktop before I upgraded and I could empty
that periodically - but I have no clue where it is now?

Right-click on your Desktop and select:
Properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop >
General Tab, then click once on the Recycle
Bin (empty) icon, then click OK and Apply.
