Delete hardware profile

I deleted 2 hardware profiles today. When I went to create a new one, it
came up with a default name of "Profile 4" rather than "Profile 2". Does
that mean the two profiles I deleted are not removed from the registry even
though I deleted them from System - Hardware - Hardware Profiles?

Leftovers of those profiles lurk somwhere on your harddrive, but it's
nothing to worry about.

OK, because after rebooting several times, it looks like Profiles 2 and 3
that I deleted are still in there somewhere. If I click to create a new
profile, the default name will be Profile 5. There are only 2 profiles
installed now. Is there no way to get rid of the remnants of the ones that
were deleted?

It is... searching through registry for whatever name that profiles had or
for 'profile 2" for ex. But that's nothing to worry about.
Also, you can go in Device Manager and under View Hidden Devices delete
older device profiles.
