Delete file - XP Hangs

Hi All,

A user here running XP Pro developed a problem last evening.
When he tries to delete any file in Windows Explorer, it hangs the system.

Curiously, when I log on with my profile, I can delete the same files with
no problem. All users are local Admins.
Obviously, the problem is not with MS Updates or software as I originally
thought, but profile specific.

Any suggestions please?

Try these.

1. Open My Computer
2. Click on the Tools menu and select Folder Options...
3. Under Folder Options select the View tab.
4. Uncheck the very first box that reads "Automatically search for
network folders and printers".
5. Click "Apply" or "OK"

Thanks Jmatt,

It turned out that the problem was not the user's profile, but the user's
actual name!
When I logged onto his computer with any other username, there was no
problem. That's why I thought it was his profile.
I created a new profile for him and the problem followed him. I created a
new domain user for him with a slightly different name and when he logged on
it was OK.

He is a software developer and who knows what is going on in his computer -
it is an XP desktop and I found Active Directory services on it even though
they didn't work!

I would say some software he loaded has hold of his username and will follow
him to any new profile with that name.
