Delete corrupt Admin user profile?

J

JLampitt

This morning I fire up the trusty computer only to have it
puke all over telling me that the default user profile
(which happens to be the Admin profile) is corrupt and
it's making a temporary profile for me to use.

After a couple of hours futzing with it I've discovered
that there is now an Administrator.bak directory that I
cannot seem to delete.

I should mention that I finally gave up and created a new
user/Admin profile for me to use because when I try to log
in with the default Admin profile, it say's that it can't
load a registry file because it's not a real file or
something of that sort (sorry to be so vauge).

Arg!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can kill that
Administrator.bak directory in the Documents and Settings
directory and restore the default Administrator profile to
pristine operation?

A direct reply to (e-mail address removed) along with a reply to
the group is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jason L.

In regards to my previous reply:

- Rename C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\ntuser.dat

should read

- Rename C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.bak\ntuser.dat
