Delete content or tracking in "searches" folder

I am running Vista Home Premium (SP1) on my box. I discovered the
"Searches" folder. It seems to be tracking me. I posted about this before
05-05-08. Bender's kind suggestion did not seem to help. Keith Miller
(MVP) gave an explanation of the "Searches" folder. I still do not
understand it or how it works. I just wish it were not there. It just
seems creepy to me this folder tracking me. I do not dare delete it or
delete anything in it because it deletes the referenced file.

On second look it tracks everything for about thirty days. Can I shorten
this tracking time period to say a day or an hour instead of a month? If I
can do that, that would be a satisfactory solution.

Bender and Keith Miller (MVP), thanks for your help. I am sure your
suggestions did not work because I cannot wrap my mind around this creepy
"Searches" tracking folder. I just do not understand it.

It's not tracking you. When you double-click on, for example the "Recently
Changed" item, then it just runs a search looking for files modified in the
last 30 days. This is something anyone could easily do through the regular
explorer UI, it's just a shortcut that some people find useful.

I would strongly recommend ignoring it and not worrying about it.

Open the search in notepad as discussed earlier, locate the text:

"R00UUUUUUUUZZXD-30NU"

To only return files modified in the last 24 hours, change it to:

"R00UUUUUUUUZZXD-1NU"

To force an empty search, change it to:

"R00UUUUUUUUZZNNU"
