delete collections?

Hi all,

I combined all my clips into one. I then tried to delete all the collections but it didn't work. I mean I can delete the clip file inside each collection by the collection itself can't be deleted, any reason why? Thanks.

No.... but you delete the clips in the collections in one working pane, and
the collections themselves in the other one... at the left. Maybe you're
trying to do it from the middle pane.

I have tried to delete the collections also, without luck. I can delete the
contents of the collections, but the collections names in the pull down bar
(that has the options for effects and transitions) remain. You stated the
pane "at the left"...When I highlight a collection-from the pull down
menu--the delete is not highlighted under "edit" and cannot be selected. I'm
getting quite a list of old collections and would like to permanently remove
them. Thanks for any info PapaJohn.
