Delete background images on selected slides?

Someone has placed different background images on selected slide. I need to
delete them and going to background doesn't do it.
 
Ministry,

Format - Background - click on the listarrow and choose the first color box
which will most probably be white - click apply.
If that does not work, it could be that the image was pasted on to the slide
and sent to the background of the slide using order on the drawing toolbar.
In that case just select the image and press delete.
