Delete Background Files from Desktop Properties but NOT from My Pi

Many of my pictures ended up in my backround files. How can I delete them
all, without deleting them from "My Pictures" file?
And, by the way, do you know how they ended up there?

Here is some info why the picture files are in the Display properties for
backgrounds.
