"Delete Active-X Add-On" Button Greyed-Out??

D

Dale Franks

Today I went to remove an Active-X "Add-On", and discovered that the "Delete
Active X" button is "greyed-out" ... I can't delete any in the list. I've
scanned for viruses and spyware with the latest updates, and I'm clean.

I can only guess that some outside internet shennanigans was attempted in
the past, and changed the registry key that activates the button.

HELP!!!

Located At ...
Control Panel
Internet Options icon
Programs Icon
Manage Add-Ons" button
Delete Active X" button (greyed-out)

Thanks ALL!!!

Hi Dale,

Try the direct root instead,

Open Windows Explorer and find the folder
c:\windows\Downloaded Program Files

Right click on the control you want to delete, there should be a Delete
option in the context menu.

Please post back with the name and publisher of the ActiveX control that you
are trying to delete so that we can investigate. It may be that something is
disabling the Delete button on the Addons Manager.

I've noticed that the Add-on Manager in IE calls some items in the list
ActiveX controls, but the file it points to is a .dll. The button in
question (only "Update" in IE 6, not "Delete") is available only to those
entries that point to a .ocx file.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the info. I only have ocx so that reason was not immediately
obvious.

BBWebSLLauncher.dll

Hey Guys,

I went to download an update from blackberry.com and it has installed what is known as WebSLLauncher but wherein the corresponding DLL file is BBWebSLLauncher.dll
It says it is located in the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\BBWebSLLauncher But seems to have been installed a long time ago with the Desktop manager.

Anywho I want to get rid of the Add-On but don't want uninstall the wrong file.

How to do it??

Thanks!
