Delete a file problem

My nieghbour has downloaded a Huge file (780Mb) which he now wants to delete.
When he tries to delete it he gets a message that "the file cannot be deleted
because it is being used by another prog. Close the other prog.". He has no
other progs running. How does he get rid of this file? He has WinXP Profess
in French.
Many thanks,

Hi

Try deleting the file in Safe Mode.

If safe mode doesn't work - perhaps

Unlocker
http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not
currently in use.

Many thanks,

I had a file that just wouldn't delete (windows could not find the specified
path) until I renamed it.

Thank you all for the info - I will try it.
