delete a document

How do I delete a document and its record from word, and basically, out of my
computer
 
Assuming that you are using Windows, you delete files via Windows Explorer.

If you are trying to clear the list of recent files on the File menu (or
under the Office button if you are using Word 2007), you can set the number
of recent files to zero in the Options dialog box. When you have done this,
go back into the dialog box and change the number back to what you want.
