Delaying display of a recurring task in outlook today pane

I would like to set up a recuring task, for example a monthly report. But I
don't want to see the task until afew days before it is due.

The current mode displays June as a task as soon as I finish May. I would
like to have it hidden until June 1.
 
You can only configure Outlook Today to show all not completed Tasks or just
Today's Tasks. You can then choose to sort your Tasks accordingly as well.
