delayed write failed when portable drive removed

I use a firewire 60gb removable hard drive to take files
between work and home. When I am not using the drive on
my home computer, I receive a Windows- Delayed Write
Failed message about every thirty seconds. It doesn't
interupt my work, but is very annoying. Anyt help
apperciated
 
Brian, try this.

Plug in the drive and make sure you can access it OK. Right click on My
Computer, left click on Properties, Left click on Hardware tab, left click
on Device Manager. When Device manager opens, left click on the + next to
Disk drives. Find your removable drive. Right click on the drive and then
left click on Properties. Left click on Policies and then click on the
white circle next to Optimize for quick removal.

This will slow the read/write to this drive but probably will correct the
problem you are having with the removed drive.
