Here are certain symptoms that I think are related to the
following problem:
When starting outlook express 5 or 6 in win98se outlook
says working online, and when you click the send/receive
button it takes 1 to 2 minutes to bring up the dialup
login.
When starting IE6 the dun login comes up instantaniously.
in the internet options>connections tab selecting the
dial whenever network connection is not present radio
button then hitting apply or ok takes 1 to 2 minutes, but
selecting the other 2 radio buttons the apply/ok
operation is instant.
This computer was infected with netsky ran fxnetsky on
the computer and it was deleted then ran spyboysd and
then ran norton antivirus full scan all came up with
nothing.
The way to get around this would be to sign on to the
internet first then hit send/receive in outlook express.
Why can't is the send/receive taking so long. I tried
this same thing and had numerous things uninstalled
Earthlink total access/Antivirus,Outlook(full).
It doesn't have a nic card either.
