delay to re-boot

This started happening recently, but I can't recall exactly when. A system restore to early date didn't help.

Symptom: Upon selecting power down or re-boot, a small window pops up telling me the XP is waiting for a file to end. I'm given the option of ending it now or canceling. Or, I could wait for the little countdown to finish and then it reboots or shuts down as I've requested. This bugs me because the program or file it is attempting to close is named HPCMPMGR.EXE and I have no idea what this file or program is doing. I haven't even been using the HP printer during the sesson

I do have an HP printer. I have located the lolly-gaging file in the C: directory.

Why does this happen? How do I get this hang up, or delay, to stop happening?

It just bugs ME because it never used to do this. Anyone know of a fix for this problem

The problem you are facing is not in WindowsXP but in your Hewlett Packard (HP
printer. The file may be corrupt, or you picked up a virus or spy whil
on the internet that bedded itself in HPCMPMGR.EXE file. Recommend you contac
HP tech support by their 800# or online. A Google search found several peopl
having this problem but no resolves. Deleting the printer and reinstalling it may
also solve the problem. Also recommend you
Download Spybot - Search & Destroy and run i
