When I try to open excell file through a shortcut on my desktop,
I have a +/- 15 seconds delay before the file actually opens.
If I open excel previously and open a file it does so immediately
I would appreciate help on this matter.
I have a very fast computer and 1Giga RAM

Sincerely,

You would get a delay while Excel starts up and loads any add-ins. Presumably Excel is closed when you open the file from the shortcut, which would contribute to the opening time.
If excel is already running, it only has to open the file itself which is considerably quicker.

Dear sir,
Thanks for your reply.
I have no add-ins running and 15 seconds seems like eternity.

I have no answer ... but I can confirm that my Excel opens instantly from wherever as does all Office progs.

Give CCleaner a try, as it can clean out the deadwood left laying around by Windows ... not saying it will 'cure' your delay, worth a try.
