Delay in closing a window

B

Brian Bumble

I run IE6 on Windows ME. Whenever I close an IE6 window by clicking
the X in the top right hand corner, there's a delay of about 5 seconds
before the window actually closes. (Actually, the same thing also
happens when I try to close a window in Windows Explorer.) I've tried
disabling my firewall and my virus scanner before closing the window,
but to no avail. I've also scanned my computer for viruses and
cleaned out spyware with Adaware, also to no avail. Any ideas on how
to fix this?

telly

go to Start, Run, type "msconfig", go to the Startup tab,
remove all the checkmarks, reboot.

if it fixes it, it means a 3rd party application was
causing the problem

if it doesnt, try repairing and/or reinstalling IE.

comes to worse, just reformat your system, that'll do it.
