Defragmenter

I have a gateway system. Pent.III. After installing XP SP2
I recently went to defrag my system and I get an error
"C:WINNT\system32\mmcbase.DLL nat a valid windows image"
Defrag will not run. Has anyone encountered this. I can locate the file in
search. I am not sure of of the mmcbase name. Thanks for any info.

How did you try to defrag? You should use Start>Programs>Accessories>System
Tools>Defragmenter to defrag properly.

I know how to work it. It just won't. I keep getting that same error. Had not
noticed this til I had installed SP 2. Any ideas what the 'mmcbase' could be?

Go to Start | Run. Type in sfc /scannow. Click ok. Have the XP
installation CD handy. See if that helps.
