Defragment problems

WHen I defragment XP I lose many sewing files .hus and
can not regain them even when I know what was removed.
What do I need to do to stop this? It makes me afraid to
defrag the computer. Please respond to me email.
 
You should be backing up your important files. Do you have a CD-RW drive?
If yes, use it.
