I am trying to clean up my main volume c
However I keep get a defragment failure on five files
I have tried a "forced" defrag from the c: command line but to no avail

Any suggestions? The files that don't defrag are Outlook *.pst file

Sure. Don't worry about a few fragmented files. The defrag utility native to
WinXP works just fine. It's not quite as complete as 3rd party products, nor
is it as fast, but it does what it's supposed to do.

make sure outlook isn't running while defragging. only thing I can think of

Try booting info Safe Mode and defragmenting from there.
