Defragment error

My Acer laptop has been fine for over a year, but will not now defragment the
C: drive. It willl Defragment the D: drive just fine. (D is a partition, not
a true drive) The C drive also will not defrag in Dos as well and shows the
same error. The error reports: "THE SCAN HAS BEEN CANCELED BECAUSE AN ERROR
OCCURED IN THE FILE: c:\I386\eudcedit.hl_ The file name sometimes changes
during repeated scans, and if the folder is renamed, the scan still names the
files in the new folder as the culprit. If the folder I386 is deleted, the
error changes to name files in the c:\windows\system32\ folder. Chkdsk
recovered 1 fragmented file from the c: drive, but I don't know what it is.
(I couldnt find the file on my drive looking for the date modified or the
name fil*.* )

It is time to scan the drive for errors. By the way, leave I386 alone.
