Defragging before sysprep & clone?

I haven't been able to figure out if there is a good way to get a "pristine"
image of our system build. Right now once we build it, configure it with all
the software and patches, the system disk ends up pretty fragmented. It
would seem to me that taking the extra time to do a defrag would make all the
down-line systems much faster. True?? Worth the effort??

Is there an easier way? I remember seeing something on ImageX that maybe
supported this sort of thing in one step??

Thanks in advance for any insight.

I was just looking for some more info on the matter, because defragging is
ment to unclutter the selected partition / HD, it would seem a very good idea
to do a defrag before a making an actual image and then make a clone/image.
At least that is what I think at the moment.

I think you also have to take into account how your cloning/imaging software
handles the backup process: file based? / sector?

I have looked at several imaging software packages and all them didn't have
defrag option into it... currently I am using:
norton ghost 11 (ghost images on DVD)
acronis true image 11 (a secure zone partition, to be able to a backup back
without CD/DVD hassle)

I am by no means a pc guru, so if someone could / should correct me, please
do so...
