Hello there. I hope you are not logged in an adminstrator all the time, as
that leaves you extra vulnerable to trojan horses and other security
problems. When logged in as an administrator, a trojan can reformat your hard
drive and delete files-it can even create a new user account with
administrative access. I would recommend that you AND your sister use a guest
account when connected to the web, and that you alone log in as administrator
to defragment your hard drive. You really do not need to grant such
permission to your sister as long as you yourself defragment it once a week
or so while logging in as administrator. Never connect to the internet while
logged in as administrator as a general rule of thumb, though. I hope this
helps some.

I've been logged in as an administrator on two computers since 2003 and
have caught no viruses or trojans or any other malware. Methinks you are
being a bit paranoid.

The lack of an incident is no reason to throw security precautions out the
window. But be my guest-it is your computer, not mine. This is a basic tip
that even Microsoft recommends users never do. I didn't just make it up.

Just defrag the drive with your account, no need for each user to do so.

Which is why I have a hard router firewall, a soft firewall,
spywareblaster, spywareguard, Ad Aware, Spybot and Avast running on my
computer. I also use Safe Hex.

In addition, if I have the inclination to go to dodgey web sites, I use
Ubuntu Linux, being as there isn't one single virus or malware in the
wild that can affect Linux.

I would take *anything* MS says about security with a large grain of salt.

What an ignorant thing to say. Viruses have been written for Linux and you have
no way to know if one is currently "in the wild." Linux has had plenty of
vulnerabilities that malware can take advantage of. Time to take the
rose-colored glasses off.

When you defrag from your account that takes care of it. No need to defrag
from different accounts.

False. There isn't one single virus for Linux in the wild. Not one. Now,
don't point me to web site that say it is possible when it's never happened.

Windows, OTOH, is constantly getting bombarded with all sorts of Blue
Meanies.

Funny. You immediately know when a virus makes it into the wild? You should
sell that capability, whatever it is. AV software makers would die for it.

Should have said "known virus". Better? Compared to Windows, there are
none, zilch, nada, nil, zero. If you're half way Safe Hex savvy (in the
unlikely event that you're so stupid that you will type in your password
when out of nowhere, something wants to install on your computer, you
can nuke your home folder, create a new user and be about your business
as usual so it's even dummy proof), no AV or soft firewall needed, much
less Spybot, SpySweeper, Spywareblaster, Spywareguard, Defenseless,
Ad-Aware 2007, and a long of etceteras.
