I have WinXP, Home Edition. I can defrag my "C" drive, and just a few days
later, I check and it says I should defragment again. I do not add
(install), or uninstall any programs. What causes this?

Read kb555223 However virtual memory (page file) is on the same hd as
the OS,get another hd & set it with a page file, helps keep the hd
unfragmented.

If the fragmentation is bad enough, it may take running defrag more than one
time. Each time it finishes, run it again to see if it still recommends
defrag. If so, run again; keep running until it says not to defrag.
