I would really suggest you use Diskeeper 8.0 http://www.diskeeper.com/coverpage.asp It is FAR better than XP Defrag.... even does the MBR! There is a FREE fully working 30 day trial.. Give it a go. I would first suggest that you boot into Safe Mode and defrag from there.
