Defrag says my 30 Gig disk is too full how to start over

I have had this computer since July 2002. I have all the
new updates and I know my programs don't take up that much
room. Defrag can't even work.

How do I get my computer back to the very beginning. I
can't do it in Dos at all. No F disk is available.

System restores don't work they just put more things on my
hard drive.

I want to totally start over.

This didn't happen until mid-June. First Outlook died,
internet died and it was my computer.

I have Norton Antivirus.

Thanks for your help. I just want to clean up the whole
computer and start from scratch like I could on Windows 98.

If you have the retail version of XP just boot from the XP CD and follow the
instructions. You may have to set the boot sequence in your BIOS to the CD
as the 1st boot device in order to boot from the CD.

defragmentation needs 15% free space to run and it is
good idea to get in habit of 'routine of running'
chkdsk.exe/checkdisk/first
then defrag
then delete temp files and cookies
and this should keep your disk clean and org'd

fdisk - no longer supported/avail in win xp
diskpart - is your tool of use - ie
diskpart /? - in 'command prompt window'
and in 'help and support function'

'install repair' - if you continue to feel you need to
'install' - consider this as it keeps your data files
intact - ie
