defrag problem

hi all

each time I try to defragment, I get an error that says,

"Disk Defragment has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the
volume....Please run Chkdsk /f"

I then ran this 'Chkdsk' and scanned through a lot of files and indexes.
When I restarted my computer, and went to defrag again, it came up with the
same error message! please help

Not sure! Just some thoughts... Run Scandisk on that partition and tell
it to fix errors. When you ran Chkdsk did you run it with the /f parameter
(fix errors) You might have a sector error in space that is unused when
you are up but used during boot - it takes a while but I would run scandisk
and have it check for sector errors in the unused area and be sure to check
fix errors if it finds any.
