Defrag not working

J

Jen

When running defrag the following message appears:
"Disk Defragmenter cannot continue prescan because there
is a corruption in file "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40
\admisapi\scripts". Scripts appears to be an empty
folder, but I am unable to delete it.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

- Start menu | Run | type FSUTIL DIRTY SET C: | press OK
- shutdown/restart Windows

upon restarting, Windows will report that drive C: is dirty and should be
checked for errors, allow the 10sec timeout to expire and CHKDSK will
scan/fix errors on the drive. when it's done, the system will be restarted
and Windows will boot normally. then try defrag again
