Hello,

I'm using a Windows XP SP2 notebook with a 30GB hard drive and when I run
Disk Deframenter it gets stuck at 1% & it's been 3 days (over weekend). I
stopped it and installed Diskeeper and now that's been stuck at 12%. The CPU
states it's running at 100% for about 3 hours now but the hard drive light
isn't even on or blinking. How can I resolve this?

Thank you.

Have you tried defragmenting in safe mode? Another option is to use defrag
from the command prompt. Open the command window and type: defrag c: (or
whichever drive you need to defrag)
