Defrag problems

Hi All,

I am requesting some assistance with my Pc and defragmentation issues. I am
running XP home SP2 on a 80G hard drive. When I try running the defrag
software within XP I get an error message stating "initialize error". I have
run check disk and a HD regeneration program, both reported no errors. I
have also tried Diskeeper which also prodice an "initialisation error"
message.

Can anyone shed some light on this problem ??

Many Thanks

The solutions you suggest did not help me...
Tried all on this site to no avail.
The error I get is "snap in failed" with all the numbers shown on the
illustration.
Any other suggeston?
No I have never used a 3rd party tool of any sort. I lost access right
after the last Microsoft "automatic update".
