I just had an XP Home Upgrade on my computer, taking
Windows ME and changing it to Windows XP. Today I
clicked Start/All Programs/Accessaries/Systems Tool/Disk
Defrag. The evaluation went well, but when I started the
Defrag, my system went to 1% and stayed there. It just
froze and wouldn't do the defrag. I eventaully rebooted,
and tried to go back into Microsoft Windows ME, but my
system wouldn't go there and indicated:
C:\Window\IFSHLP.sys missing or corrupted.
C:\Windows\system\VMM32.VXD had listed the same message.
It also told me to try and get into
C:\Windows\system\VMM32.VXD loader, but I couldn't. So I
went bact to XP and tried the Defrag again. No luck.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how to fix
it? Remember, I went from Windows ME to Window XP Home
Upgrade. I'd appreciate any help fixing this.
