defrag access denied and emoticons not seen

Unable to use defrag from system tools tho have done a defrag via free
version of advanced system care.
Emotes on messenger - can select from emote menu and it appears in writing
pane but once sent only shortcut letters appear in message pane. Cannot see
any sent to me.
Delete cookies every day, and run disc clean.
Used advanced system care to clean up comp.
Run Norton
Used spybot
Used cc clean
Was unable to find a restore point that works

Now what? Please help and bear in mind I am not very computer literate!

Advanced System Care includes a Registry Cleaner. It's use could create
any number of difficult to identify and repair registry issues.

Did you have real time anti-spyware protection installed before your
problems started? Tea Timer a component of Spybot S & D will perform
this role but was Tea Timer activated before the problems started?

What Norton product is installed?

You could have malware starting to attack your system. Does Task Manager
work ( select Ctrl+Alt+ Del to check)? Does Event Viewer load (Select
Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.). These
are things that Malware will attack aside from knocking over software
like Norton.

What is the message that appears when you try to run the Microsoft Disk
Defragmenter? Was Advanced System Care installed before or after you
first encountered a problem with the Microsoft Disk Defragmenter?

Uninstall Norton and run Avast ( free ) .
