defrag abort - fatal error

When performing a defragment on my c drive the defrag
stops during analyzing and I receive a prompt:

ScanFat: Scan Aborted - Fatal Error - File: \\?\Volume
{c9784ba4-bacc-11d7-a784-806d6172692f}\WINNT\SYSTEM\WIN\LOG

any ideas as to what may be wrong are greatly appreciated.
 
Sounds like possibly a file system issue.

I'd suggest that you run a CHKDSK /R on the drive (will require a reboot to
perform) and see if CHKDSK finds/fixes any error with the file system on the
drive.
