Hi Randy,

Just out of interest. What is the purpose of duplicating the posts? I notice
in Announcements and here.

Engel,

I think it is a matter of 2 points.

1. The appropriate forum.
To me an "announcement" of an Update, wheither it be WD, Adaware, Spybot,
etc would go in Announcements.

2. Some people go to one forum or another but not all.
I, for example, almost never go to any other forum except Announcements and
General. I always you to Announcements first to see if there are any updates
"announced".

?:)

Hi Tim,

I agree with you, in Announcements ussualy I only post the announcement, in
the General I add the link and in Signatures I post the whole thing.

Here in Announcement I notice Pat Willener post, that is why I dont post the
regular Annoncement. (Pat's post is below this one)

In Signatures is the same example as in here.

No big deal only I wonder why with the same subject the post are duplicated.

Engel,

My "druther" would be that the first person to become aware of the update
would post it in Announcements. This is usually you ;-).

If it is not you, and the other poster does not provide the link, which they
usually do not, than you would follow up that post with the link, and then
cross post to General (and Signatures if you like).

Discussions about problems/success with the update (if any) would take place
in General.

"Thank Yous" ;-) for the Announcement would stay in Announcements.

This would keep things nice and tidy and everyone would be informed (and
thanked).

Of course newsgroups are not known for being tidy. As long as we all find
out what's going on, it works.

And, as always, Thank You for link.

In the event that some Windows Defender users are not subscribed to all
available groups.
