defender hijacking?

when i attempt to open internet explorer Norton tells me that windows
defender is attempting to change my home home page. is this normal behavior
for defender or has Norton got it wrong? anyone else having this problem? any
advice would be appreciated.

I haven't seen this reported by others. If Windows Defender believes your
browser has been hijacked, it will reset the home page and other such
characteristics to the defaults for Windows as originally installed.
Otherwise, it shouldn't touch them.

I've got Windows Defender running on about a dozen machines with various
Norton flavors--2006,2005, and corporate--and haven't seen this or had it
reported to me.
