default VPN routing help needed

I have a Windows 2003 RRAS server set up behind a LinkSys ADSL router. When
I connect to the server remotely from my XP system the default route on my
machine gets set to the IP address of the VPN connection. As a result, all
my traffic to the net goes through my 384kbps uplink instead of out the
100Mbit local LAN.

What can I do on the client side to make it so the lowest metric default
route is my local LAN instead of the VPN connection?
