Default user -user profile?

Hello,

Is the default user profile for distributing files & settings for users
logging on
to the workstation?

If I configure 1 user profile and copy the profile's files under Documents
and Setting to the Default user folder are they copied to new user profiles
logging in to the workstation? I mean like favorites, desktop shortcuts,
start menu etc...

Thanks

That is one way all right, another way (I think a better way) is to add the
favourites, shortcuts etc to the "All Users" profile.

the default profile is used when a "new" account is created , so use that
for a baseline ...as suggested , for your purpose the "all users" may be a
better way

I Agree.

What about application settings? Are there application settings in
Application Data folder? (Probably depends on installed apps :)

My goal is (or atleast one goal is) to disable automatic application online
updates by default in the program settings and use these settings for all
users.

Thats because so many applications today has some web update component
activated by default. I don't want our users to update their software and in
most cases thats not even possible due to insufficient privileges. It's just
annoying that the user is prompted several times for all kinds of available
online updates.

Thanks

Setting up a user with all the program defaults you want, then cloning it
onto the Default User is about the only way to setup programs that are "User
specific". It is a great way to setup a defult setup for things like WMP that
ask your users all sorts of questions when they first use it.

However, it is only really practical at the build phase of a roll-out, as
you will need to delete existing user's profiles from "My Computer -
Properties - Advanced - User Profiles" for the new default profile you create
to come into effect.

Hope this helps.

)
