Default Templates

Am resident Powerpoint Ranger with extensive hours logged, but I'm bugged by
a problem....
Have created a default template to include personally designed Notes and
Handout pages. However, if I take an existing presentation and apply my
default template, it doesn't apply the Notes or Handouts designs. Page Layout
is set correctly.

Can anyone help?

I'm not positive, but I believe you have to use File/New and do a "based on
template" in order for the notes and handouts page masters to transfer.

Imagine a template or a presentation as a layer cake.

Content
=======
Masters

When you create a new presentation from a template, the new presentation is more
or less a copy of the template, including any content (slides, notes, etc)

When you apply a template to an existing presentation, you toss out the Masters
layer of the presentation and slide in the Masters layer from the template
you're applying; the content from your presentation stays put. It's not
replaced by the content in the template; the content in the template doesn't
migrate into the presentation.

You might want to start a new pres. based on the template then copy/paste the
content you want from it into the existing presentation.
