Is there a way to alter the default setting that shows in the Save
Attachment. It always starts with Documents and Settings/ I never want to
save any pics there which is what I am usually saving, so wondered if I
could change it rather than having to scroll to find the usual folder to
save to.

You can change the setting for that session by saving a whole message to
some other location, then all the attachments saved during that OE session
will default to the new location.

Lynn,

OE in pre-SP2 systems has a known bug of truncating the last character of the last saved attachment path.

If you set the attachment path as C:\Downloads\, it becomes
C:\Downloads
C:\Download
C:\Downloa

etc. If the folders mentioned above are missing, it takes My Documents as the default save attachment path.

This is fixed in XP SP2.

Thanks Ramesh but I've not seen anywhere though that you can actually specify where the default
setting is chosen.

Lynn,

IIRC, it stores the last saved attachment path value in the registry. Here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{GUID}
REG_SZ named "Attachment Path" in the right-pane.
