default printer changes by itself

My Win2k Pro will not keep the default printer as default. I have a network
with 7 computers (XP;win2k;win98) and 4 printers. I select the laser as the
default. But win2k insists on changing the default to one of the inkjets. I
bring up another activation, it's back to the inkjet. Driving me nutz.

Set it in the registry:

Also, export the above registry setting as *.reg file and add a regedit /s
<path to *.reg file to your netlogon script so when you log in it overrides
the current setting.
