This is an elementary question but I hope someone will
take the time to answer it anyway. Using Windows XP.
Right now the music player from my Soundblaster audio
software comes up as the default whenever I put a CD in
the CD player. Anyone know how to disable this so that
the Windows media player will be the default? Right now
I get both of them and it's always a small pain to ahve
to close the Soundblaster player. Thanks in advance

In Windows Explorer, click TOOLS|FOLDER OPTIONS|FILE TYPES tab
Scroll to the CDA extension, click on ADVANCED|EDIT and point it to
Windows Media Player, which is in the c:\Program Files\Windows Media
Player directory (folder)

In WMP go to Tools - Options - File Types, check Music CD Playback and
Apply. This should make it come up as the default. You may also need to
go to My Computer and r-click the drive, take properties. On the
Autoplay page select 'Music CD (not Music Files, which relates to a CD
of MP3 files). Click in Select Action, then highlight Windows Media
Player and click Apply.
