default monitor

hello, recently i purchased windows xp professional so i
could upgrade the home edition. unfortunately, when it
upgraded, it didn't pick up on the monitor i had, so.. it
put me on "default monitor" which is extremely crappy and
does not support almost anything. so now, everytime i'm
on the computer, everything is enlarged, the menu.. the
windows, everything, i've tried fixin it to a normal
size, but it won't work. need help badly, it's really
beginning to annoy me, and i've tried everything, don't
know what to do, please help!

This has absolutely nothing to do with your monitor (and if you'd really
"tried everything" you'd have done what I'm about to suggest and your post
wouldn't have been necessary). You need to download the Windows XP driver
for your graphics card or graphics chip (for the former you need to visit
your card manufacturer's website, for the latter your motherboard
manufacturer. You may also find both on the website of your system
manufacturer if it's was a factory build).
