Default encoding in Outlook 2007

P

Peter Afonin

Hello,

I'm running Outlook 2007 on Vista Ultimate, and it's my default e-mail
client.

I cannot figure out how to set up a default encoding for incoming messages.
In the Options I can set up a default encoding for outgoing messages, but
for incoming messages I always have to change the encoding manually.

I would appreciate you advice.

Thank you,

Peter

The sender is the only one who can set the encoding.

Thank you,

This is really strange. I can do this in Windows Mail, but not Outlook,
which is supposed to be a more sophisticated program.

Also, as far as I remember, I could do this in the old versions of Outlook.

I figured this out.

You need to set a correct default encoding in Windows Mail:

Tools | Options | Read I Fonts.

Then you need to make sure that the correct encoding is displayed under
International Settings in Windows Mail:

Tools | Options | Read | International Settings

I had to change the encoding twice before it worked.

Then I've got a correct encoding in Outlook. Somehow Outlook inherits the
read encoding from the Windows Mail.

I wish Microsoft would be clear on this.
