default due date tasks

I've downloaded the beta office 2007 and all my tasks in outlook are getting
the current day as the default due date. I can't figure out how to just have
them have no date by default.

I usually just type in the task right into the top box which saves the
trouble of having to click on "New" and bringing up an entire to do list
creation box; that's what I used to due with Outlook 2003. But I just
realized that if I do click on "New" in tasks than it doesn't show a due date
which is what I want but it's quite a pain to always open up a create a new
task box each time as opposed to just typing into the top little box and
pressing enter.

Found it. You are in the Tasks view. If I type a new tasks in the Tasks
view, the due date is none. If I type a new task in the To-Do-List (the
default view for Tasks), then the due date is today.
Note that in the To-Do-List, it says "type a new task".
