Default category - and related questions

I want to set all new calendar items to a default category with a color. Can
I do this automatically without having to specify it every time?

Once created, I'd only occasionally change items to another category with
another color.

Or, can I assign a different color to all new items? The blue items on the
blue background don't have enough contrast.

Also, can I put a category toggle on a calendar item like with tasks?

Thanks

How about you start with the basics - which version of Outlook? The answer
to your question is dependant on your version.

Thanks for responding.

I have both Outlook 2003 and I'm checking out the trial of 2007. In 2007
I've figured out how to change the color of appointments using Auto
Formatting although it doesn't seem to be available for tasks.

Tasks do have the icon to toggle the Quick Category but it doesn't seem to
be available for appointments.

I'd like to understand if I can create an appointment and have it default to
a category automatically without having to right-click, select categorize and
then the category. An nice alternative would be to have the Quick Category
available to the appointment like it is with Tasks.

Thanks for your help.

You're on the right track - have a play around with the autoformatting
functions and see what's possible - I haven't tried that yet in 2007.

you could replace the standard Calendar form with one that has a Category
set. I think you do this by changing the form and then publishing that as
your new form. - Head to the forms newsgroup!!
